Weather forecast

Sunday afternoon at The Institute: sunny spells

Beauty is a state of mind

"To see the beauty, in this strange place, called The Institute, you need a special state of mind. You need your childhood curiosity and enthusiasm and even a puddle of water will become a new world to explore."
Ksenija Spanec

How did I get here?

You may ask yourself, well, how did I get here?

The last invocation

AT the last, tenderly,
From the walls of the powerful, fortress'd house,
From the clasp of the knitted locks--from the keep of the well-closed
doors,
Let me be wafted. -Walt Whitman
Arleen Hodge

Memories

“...The memory's fading
I can almost remember singing..."
Aleksandar Siljkovic

DAY 02

Windows. Mirrors. I gazed for hours trying to find someone familiar but all I saw was nothingness. A broken shell of a man. A hopeless shadow. A sorrowful abyss.
Cristian Bassa

Letting the days go by

"Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down
Letting the days go by, water flowing underground
Into the blue again after the money's gone
Once in a lifetime, water flowing underground" - David Byrne/Talking Heads

a rebel

The Institute will never be able to surveil, understand or defeat this creature.

secret gardens

In a suitable temperature, climate and fertility of the soil - a rose seed or plant will change into a rose. But no external condition will turn pebbles into flourishing roses.

Our destiny

"Thinking of the future, involves the past. In the process of learning, the experience of past events modifies our future. Sometimes we act in advance, pouring cold shower over just a thought of a fire. But destiny finds it's way all the same. Who creates our destiny?"
Ksenija Spanec

Hard to find

The Institute wants something from you. You have to be connected and prepared to participate. They want to analyze you, categorize you. They want you to consume, inhale and receive. Peace of mind is hard to find.
Mikael Jansson

Mute

"Sometimes I Don't Need to Believe In Anything."

Confusion

Confused thoughts running through my mind.
They are looking for a safe place.
A place to rest my body and my mind.
A place away from prying eyes.
I want peace.

the struggle of opposites

"Of course, The Institute is heartless, cold and makes us fear of our existence, but we are fragile and made of flesh and blood and we feel. They do not know it, those from the I, but they are the same, made of flesh and blood and fragile too...as soon as we recognize this we will not fear any more and this is the opportunity not to win, but to feel free. We cannot win, because we do not care about  winning, after all...we need the I because it is our opposite and the opposite makes the picture a whole. It is in our code to separate things, to tell wrong from right, black from white, light from dark. But we wouldn't know what it is white or light without the black and dark.
Ksenija Spanec

all is vanity

Bigger on the inside

"Come blooming youths, as you pass by,
And on these lines do cast an eye.
As you are now, so once was I;
As I am now, so must you be;
Prepare for death and follow me."-
Effie Gean Robinson
George Holroyd

Our souls

"That was the story about the trembling hearts. About the delicacy of our souls. We looked in each others eyes, looking for comfort and understanding... and there we found ourselves. We all are made of the same fragility... and we fear the same fears."
Ksenija Spanec

DAY 01

I pick myself up from the damp pavement in front of my home. It feels changed, decayed, somehow different. I try to enter but the door is locked. I'm looking through the window - maybe it's better I cannot get inside.
Cristian Bassa

Moon

This is my last attempt to go to the Moon.

Shadows are light "as light"

It is very deep and it could take a lifetime to fully understand - but shadows are light. Think of them as light being blocked from a surface because an object is in its way.

struggle

“The struggle itself towards the heights is enough to fill a man's heart. One must imagine Sisyphus happy.”― Albert Camus
George Holroyd

Scams

In a recent report The Institute has praised the new, shabby look of residential areas that has become popular among the cultural elite (they usually move out after a couple of months). Other officials from The Institute promises not to regulate builders and never look over the banking sector’s exposure to the real estate sector.

yin and yang, dark and light

"One cannot exist without the other. The dualism of life and existence makes the picture whole. We cannot exist without the Institute and the Institute cannot exist without us."
Ksenija Spanec

Spokespersons

The Institute prefers to use spokespersons or figureheads when communicating with the citizens. Celebrities are sought after but even if the spokespersons are not famous, they must have a media appeal, an interesting story to tell and excellent communications skills.

Entfremdung

A pervasive sense of alienation.

Improvising

The Institute is prepared to use all available methods to supervise the citizens. Pipes are occasionally used as binoculars.

A breeze is enough and the financial system of The Institute will collapse. This is Top Secret - they have a Plan B.

They install the parking engines not for the sake of any kind of convenience or decency, but for the grand scheme, for the investigations, and for the endless smoking rooms of The Institute.

NIGHT 00 - MEMORI3S

The black cab suddenly stops, the door opens - I'm on the pavement. It's almost morning. Where am I? I try to get back in. A Guardian appears. Tires squeaking.

curiosity killed the cat

The Institute has announced that there are bright lights at the end of the tunnel. They call it "Future". But it's a lie - it is a dead end. Chose an alternative road.

"We all have some cross to bear."
Ksenija Spanec

spawning

Dire visions dance through the haze of substances and human emotion that sometimes spawns itself in the organs of the city. In it's spleen more than in it's heart, because nobody knows what goes on in the heart of a city, only in it's spleens.
